This Hawken Plains Rifle was built by Rick Baker, ColonialRifleSmith.
The rifle features a .45 cal. 26.5-inch unmarked barrel. The barrel is 7/8ths across the flats.
The lock is a Russ Hamm Percussion lock with a very fast throw.
The nipple uses #11 caps.
The stock is a very dense Curley Maple stained with an Early American stain.
The furniture is antiqued brass.
Due to the high cost of commercial locks, I now build my locks from rough cast sets.
I pass the $150.00 to $200.00 savings on to you.
Cast venders are Chris Hirsch-Antique gun parts castings, The Rifle Shoppe, and Upper Missouri Trading Co.
The front sight is a silver blade with a brass dove tail.
The rear sight is a steel, dove tailed semi-buckhorn sight.
The Length of Pull is 13.5 inches with a very light trigger pull and weighs in at only 6 pounds.
Overall length is 41.5 inches.
The Russ Hamm Lock, built from castings, is different. The plate and hammer were cast; however, the internals were ready to install.
Due to a single trigger, it has no fly.
