The Moravians were German immigrants escaping religious persecution in their home country. Many were skilled gun builders who settled in the Christian Springs area of Pennsylvania and ushered in the Transitional school of gun building here in the colonies. This later evolved into what we know today as the “Kentucky Rifle”. This blanket gun kit is an example of a very early battle field find repurposed to a small hand held weapon to be slung over the shoulder.
