F-20ga Early French Musket

F-20ga Early French Musket

$2495.00

This handsome musket was just completed by, Rick Baker, ColonialRifleSmith.

The French Musket sports an early 1700s styling with a banana-shaped chiseled lock.

The barrel is a custom Greg Christian barrel. It’s 44 inches long and tapered round from breech to muzzle.

The musket is a .62 caliber, 20-gauge smoothbore.

The lock was assembled from a casting set from ‘Chris Hirsch, Antique Gun Parts’, Late 1600s, early 1700s French Chiseled Lock.

The lock has a fly and a fast throw. The frizzen throws a shower of sparks. The single trigger is set for an easy touchoff.

The stock is M3 Sugar Maple. The stock has a nice figure and is slim and smooth.

The furniture is all steel, including the ramrod. The furniture has been colored a French Grey, which offers excellent rust protection.

The length of pull is 14 inches for today’s average shooter.

The total length of the musket is 60 inches.

The musket weighs in at 7 pounds 15 ounces.

The musket is mounted with unique furniture. The forward thimble has a bell entry, making it easier to store the ramrod.

The entry thimble has a long tail to protect the forearm from damage.

It also has a bulbous area for the musket to rest on when shooting from cover.

The front sight is a death mask molded for sterling silver. This is the only one I had; there are no more available. I thought this would be the perfect musket to use it on.

The nose on the face is the front sight blade.

This musket is definitely an attention getter.
