RB-45 Appalachian Barn Gun .45 cal. (Not included in the Sale)

The Appalachian Barn Gun is a plain working man’s rifle built by ColonialRifleSmith. The 19th-century makers built this rifle for use, not show. It has no buttplate, nose cap, or entry pipe. There is no sideplate or patchbox. These rifles fed families and stayed by the door in some of the most rugged country in the eastern United States.

This rifle has a .45 cal., 38-inch swamped barrel, a steel rear sight, and a brass front sight.

The lock is a late Keland-style lock. It has a very fast throw and throws a shower of sparks.

The furniture is antiqued steel. The rifle has a single trigger set for easy touch-off.

The length of pull is 13 1/2 inches.

The rifle weighs a very light 6.5 pounds.

The total length is 54 inches.

The stock is plain Sugar Maple, stained with an Early American Walnut Stain. Very appropriate for this style rifle.

Then hand-rubbed with Tung Oil and BriWax.
